The Importance of Youth Tourism

In an era full of challenges for the tourism industry, tourism for young people is a significant market segment, being a resource for change and innovation. World youth tourism industry is estimated to be approximately 190 million international travelers per year. According to UN WTO forecasts, 2020 will be about 300 million young people who will travel in a year, accounting for 320 billion dollars in market value. The World Youth Student and Educational defines youth tourism as a form of tourism that include independent travelers (young people are not accompanied by a parent or guardian personally) for periods of less than one year, with ages between 15 and 29 years. Individuals have the motivation for such movement willingness to construe experience vital to experience new culture and to benefit from new learning opportunities formal or informal in an unknown environment, different at normal everyday life. Educational tourism, traveling students and young people, plays a significant role for world tourism.

Around 90s, young travelers have represented 15% of the tourist market. In the past decade, it has increased by 20% and in the near future is expected to increase by 25%. Young people today want to travel as far to go as long, resulting in more spending, but managed to keep in touch with home more than ever before. These wish to enrich their experience at all levels. A comprehensive study conducted by WISE for youth tourism sector explained the motivations behind the trips made by these young, but have noticed a significant development for cultural tourism. For young people, travel is a form of learning, a way to meet other people, a way to have contact with other cultures, a source of career development, a means of self—development, an essential part of everyday life, a brief escape from reality. Young people are adventurous and want to develop their own knowledge. Often chooses to work in the places they choose to visit. They have an important role in attracting new visitors to their destination. Young people are adventurous and want to develop their own knowledge. They have a wide variety of forms of tourism for young people from which to decide. Each form itself helps to progress and evolve in different ways.

Forms of Tourism

(I) Domestic Tourism: Domestic Tourism consists of the activities of resident visitors within the country of reference, either as part of a domestic tourism trip or part of an outbound tourism trip. 

At the highest level, it's involved residents of a country traveling within that same country. Road trips, weekend gateways and staycation are great example of domestic tourism. One of the biggest advantages of domestic tourism is that it includes local travel, which is easier and cheaper commuting.

The government uses domestic tourism as a tool to eliminate poverty, generate employment and economic growth, upgrade infrastructure and alleviate pressure from overcrowding through, for instance, discretionary pricing policies and the provision of non-wage tourism benefits.

 

(II) Inbound Tourism: This means visits to a country by visitors who are not resident of that country. This is largely important because of economic benefits. Tourism can bring a lot of money through foreign exchange. This is particularly beneficial in countries where the currency is weaker than the currency of the tourists' home countries.

 

(III) Outbound Tourism: it's refers to activities of a residents visitors outside their country of resident. International outbound tourists are numbers of departures people make from their country of usual residence to any other country for any purpose apart from a remunerated activity in the country visited. The data on outbound tourists refers to the number of departures, not to the number of people traveling.

Type of Visa

(I) Tourist visa: This is a visa issued to foreign visitors traveling to a host country for short periods of three (3) or six (6) months. It could be in the form of vacation or visiting.

Business visa: Entrepreneur or Businessman obtained business visa to trade, attend conference or invest in another country. The business must be registered business name to apply for this visa.

(II) Students visa: Student intends to study in another country issued student visa. The student must have obtained admission to study in an institution of such country.

(III) Immigrants Visa: This type of Visa is issued to a foreign national who intends to live and work in another country. 

 

(IV) Work Visa: Temporary worker visas are for individuals who want to enter another country for employment lasting a fixed period of time, and are not considered permanent or indefinite. This is a nonimmigrant visa that last for five (5) years or more depending on the employer.
